Biography

Greetings from Rahat Makhdoomi, a proud resident of Singapore! Originally hailing from the breathtaking Valley of Kashmir, often referred to as the heaven on Earth.

“Art is a soothing therapy”

My passion for painting ignited at a young age, as I discovered the joy of sketching and painting as a hobby. It was during a visit to my neighbour’s daughter, an aspiring artist with a remarkable eye for detail, that my interest in painting grew deeper. In a town where painting was not commonly pursued as a career, I even took tuitions lessons for my school courses from her sister, just to find moments to learn the intricacies of the art form.

Despite studying Computer Applications and completing my Master's Degree in the same field, I dedicated a significant portion of my time to sketching and painting. After moving to Singapore, I was fortunate to have the support and encouragement of my husband, who helped me pursue my dream. Determined to turn painting into my full-time career, I enrolled at NAFA(Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts), where I had the opportunity of refine my skills and learn from accomplished artists and teachers.I participated in some exhibitions, which was very encouraging and provided me with a new perspective from the visitors point of view.

The world of Art is a expansive ocean, and I aspire to be a lifelong student, continuously learning from the talented artists around the globe. My focus is on Modern abstract art, where I explore the depths of creativity. I work with various mediums such as Oil, Acrylic and Watercolour, each requiring a unique skill set. The excitement of constantly learning and pushing the boundaries of artistic abilities fuels my passion for creating abstract paintings.
